Maths Juntti is one of Huddig's many skilled welders. He has been employed by the company for a total of seven years and enjoys both the job and the workplace itself.
- First and foremost, it's because I have such great colleagues. I also enjoy working for a company that is growing and constantly developing the product. We make great machines. It's so much fun to see them out and about on the streets. I feel proud to be part of Huddig, he says.
Maths has attended the Industrial Technology program at Bromangymnasiet with a focus on sheet metal and welding. He did both his third year internship and the fourth year at Huddig. He was then offered a permanent position at the company.
- I was hired in 2004 and worked there until 2009. But then the financial crisis hit and I needed to find something else. I ended up doing a lot of different jobs in several different places. If there are no jobs locally, you simply have to go where they are," he says.
After a number of years, he felt that traveling around and working in lots of different places was getting tiring. He had also met his wife, who also came from Hudiksvall, and therefore wanted to find a job in the area.
- Then I heard that Huddig needed a welder. Since I had been there before and was already on the rolls, it suited me perfectly. I got the job and it felt great to come back, he says.
As a welder at Huddig, you work in shifts and during the day. Maths, for example, can start a week with afternoon shifts on Monday and Tuesday. Then he is off on Wednesday and works mornings on Thursday and Friday.
- "This kind of schedule suits me perfectly, especially as I have small children at home. I get a day off, which gives me more time with my family," he says.
Maths thinks the best thing about his job is that he develops as a person. He also likes that management really listens to and addresses the ideas and problems that staff have.
- "We have various improvement groups here in production where we can bring up if there is something that is not right or does not fit. For example, if I find that a certain detail is not working, I can go to my supervisor and tell him. He then goes to production engineering, which goes up to construction, which makes a change. It means a lot that changes are made to what we on the floor suggest.
Maths also appreciates that you get to follow the product from sheet metal to finished machine out on the farm.
- It's pretty cool. When I've worked in other businesses, it's been a bit more like we make a thing, then we send it off to some other company and we never see a glimpse of it again. Here you get to be involved all the way. It also simplifies things if something goes wrong. Then we can catch it and fix it immediately," he says.
When Maths is not at work, he likes to spend time with his family. He also spends some time traveling and working on cars.
- I also love snowmobiling. I go both around here and in the mountains. It really is so much fun. It's adrenaline, community and nature experience. All in one," he says.
