Huddig presents its second sustainability report covering the financial year 2024
The assignments vary from large to small, and the fleet includes ten HUDDIG from HUDDIG 1260B to HUDDIG 1260D.
"We like logistically challenging assignments where we use all our knowledge. As a client of Rosenqvist Entreprenad, you get a responsive partner who focuses on finding the best possible solutions together. We strive to give that little extra, regardless of whether you work as a site manager or machine operator. We see the whole of Sweden as our workplace, and we go where the jobs are."
According to Daniel the choice of HUDDIG is based on a strong brand that stands for quality. Furthermore, the local anchoring also plays a big role for Rosenqvist Entreprenad.
"The comfort and development of the HUDDIG-machines over the years are absolutely outstanding. I'm from Delsbo, close to Hudiksvall where the Huddig factory is located. It's incredible that the small town of Hudiksvall has so many fine companies and that such an advanced construction machine as HUDDIG is manufactured here."
He goes on to say that variation, flexibility, and versatility in the machines are also valuable characteristics, especially in railway work.
"A HUDDIG is a multi-machine that offers all of the above. On the railroad, a fully equipped HUDDIG is hard to beat when there are many mixed working tasks. It's a strong, quiet machine with a great operator environment thanks to a large comfortable cab and small ergonomic electric levers. Every year, development is moving forward, reflected in each new model."
As Business Manager at Rosenqvist Entreprenad, Daniel is financially responsible for the machine department, which includes new purchases and sales of both equipment and machines. Today, he has 17 employees in his team.
" I run projects of varying sizes for external customers as well as helping our site managers internally with their machinery needs. My assignments can last anywhere from one day to a year and vary from small, quick projects to large, extensive projects where I am involved with several others."
Daniel is driven by a strong interest in machines and people - and gets energy from seeing others develop.
"I enjoy being able to help others progress and love to see people develop. It was a mixed feeling when I got the Business Manager position, as it also meant that I would be the boss of my old colleagues and everyone who had taught me to drive a machine. But everything has gone well, and we are a close-knit team that helps each other. I still help out and operate machines sometimes too."
Responsibility and flexibility are important qualities for the employed machine operators, and railways as an industry require self-reliance and responsibility, he continues.
"As a HUDDIG driver, it is essential to plan and organize your work to a large extent. You need to be interested in how the machine works to learn how to use it fully. Safety is also at the top of my mind - I look for that in my employees."
"Railway is also a special industry to work in. You must be prepared to travel and be available at short notice. With us, everyone has their 'own' machine, and you must protect it and take care of it as if it were your own. At Rosenqvist Entreprenad, we stand up for each other and help each other; and it’s important to share your knowledge with new machine operators."
Daniel himself started his career at Rosenqvist Entreprenad as an apprentice machine operator. Owner and founder Anders Rosenqvist and the current CEO Thomas Lindberg saw potential in him and asked him to step in as a supervisor, something he had never done before. Later, he entered the role as Business Manager.
"Anders and Thomas know what they want, and they have been a huge asset as mentors to me during this time. During my ten years at Rosenqvist Entreprenad, I have made a very significant professional and personal development, which I am incredibly grateful for."
"Rosenqvist Entreprenad is an excellent company for growing in both personal development and areas of responsibility. We work a lot according to the learning-by-doing method. The management of the company sees potential and develops people internally. We look at attitude and personality and not solely formal education. I am grateful that Anders Rosenqvist and other members of the management gave me the chance and has helped me to where I am today."
Daniel sees a bright future for the industry regarding upcoming projects and assignments while being curious about emerging technology.
"I am passionate about new technology, such as better machines and equipment. Following technological developments in the industry in the coming years will be interesting. There are many exciting projects now, and I believe that the future in railway will become even brighter. We have plenty of assignments, and I see that only increasing."
However, one challenge he sees is the need for more machine operators. He is considering solutions such as machine operator training and cooperation with various authorities and companies to address the labor shortage.
"What worries me the most is a huge labor shortage in all categories within the railways. We are currently looking hard for machine operators to cover the future need. Some ideas could be to set up a training council for the Vocational Academy that could start further training, and the Public Employment Service could finance more machine operator training."
When he reflects on the future and development of the industry, he thinks, among other things, about the development of hybrid and electric construction machinery.
"Huddig's full hybrid machine HUDDIG 1370 TIGON is a perfect example of the machines of the future. I like the hybrid concept and hope we are not too quick to move to fully electric machines, as you need a few more years for it to work 100%. Huddig is right on time with its full hybrid solution. We are considering investing in a TIGON in the future", Daniel concludes.
